01 May 2006 - Paris, France
Paris, 01 May 2006 – Fraser Serviced Residences opens the doors to its newest residence - Le Claridge in Paris on 1 May. This historic building situated on the Champs-Élysées has been fully refurbished to provide 110 top-class serviced apartments. This is the second property in Paris for Fraser, the international leader in the premier extended stay market.
Completed in 1914, Le Claridge has a rich history. It was formerly a hotel, much beloved by stars of stage and screen during its 1930s and 40s heyday. Edith Piaf, Ray Charles and Ella Fitzgerald were among the celebrities who stayed there. It is the hotel that inspired Simenon’s "Hotel Majestic" in his Maigret series, Hemingway could regularly be seen in the hotel bar, while Marlène Dietrich and Jean Gabin chose it as their lovers’ hideaway.
Following a €7 million exterior and interior refurbishment, Fraser has taken over the management of this listed building. The 110 studios, one, two and three bedroom apartments have been refurbished in a classic style, which complements the classical design of the impressive exterior façade. The apartments enjoy sweeping views either of the grand buildings of the Champs-Élysées or on the other side, the spacious terrace.
Le Claridge has an enviable location on Paris’ most famous avenue, close to the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower. It is in the heart of the business and fashion district, just across the road from the world’s most famous luxury designer stores. Nearby the Parc des Tuileries provides green open space in the heart of the city. By night, the residence is ideally situated to take advantage of the array of restaurants, cafés and nightlife in the area.
Serviced apartments are an increasingly popular alternative to hotel accommodation for both business and leisure travellers. Le Claridge will provide short and long-term accommodation for anyone who is looking for the convenience of a luxury hotel combined with the comfort of their own home. Fraser is the largest international provider of serviced apartments, and the acquisition of Le Claridge is part of the aim to expand the company’s operations to 6,000 apartments worldwide by 2009.
Guus Bakker, Executive Director of Fraser Serviced Residences Ltd said: "An apartment at Le Claridge offers more space than a hotel room, and with the benefits of home from home services, allows the guest to experience the city as a native. With the growth of international business, there is an increasing demand for this type of accommodation in all of the major business destinations. In line with this, Fraser has a targeted plan for growth in gateway cities across Europe and Asia over the next three years and we are actively seeking further properties to add to our portfolio."
