The Top 20 Most Instagrammable Places in Berlin

If you are looking for the best Berlin photo that are sure to impress your Instagram followers, or just want to let people know you’re getting away, then you are at the right place. From quirky bars to UNESCO World Heritage Sites and beautiful parks, there is something for every keen photographer in this German city.

This list of the most instagrammable places in Berlin has been created by Martina Bazoka and Maia Mikaela Mesa, Front Office Agents at Capri by Fraser Berlin who thinks it is the most photogenic city in the world!

20- Tempelhof Field

The old Tempelhof airport is now a public park – and not for the first time in its history. Originally the Tempelhofer Field was a parade ground, popular with locals on the weekends and on public holidays, as soon as the military left the site. It then became an airport in the 1920s.

Today, a park once more, it’s a great place to fly kites, bicycle, skateboard, dog-walk, and sunbathe. Whatever your reason for visiting, you are sure to come away with some great shots for the ‘gram from Tempelhof Field.

Fun and events, all year round. Once they brewed beer at Kulturbrauerei but now, the barrels have been replaced by cinemas, clubs, a museum, restaurants, and Instagram-worthy streets.

The magnificent Charlottenburg Palace is located just out of the centre of the city.

The beautiful palace hosts fine collections of china and paintings and is situated in the middle of a picturesque palace garden right next to the river Spree. Whether you spend your time inside or outdoors, there are many great spots to take photos of Charlottenburg Palace from.

Gendarmenmarkt is a picturesque square in the centre of Berlin. It is the site of the Berlin Concert House designed by Schinkel and the German and French Cathedrals (the Deutscher Dom and the Französischer Dom), three of the city’s most insta-worthy icons.

No trip to Berlin is complete without a stroll down Kurfürstendamm. Berlin’s most popular shopping boulevard is the beating heart of the western city centre.

Kurfürstendamm got its name from the prince-electors who rode along it to hunt in Grunewald, but today it’s full of Berliners and visitors on the hunt for the latest fashion and designer items. And that’s how Kurfürstendamm became Ku’damm.

11- Sony Center Potsdamer Platz

In the 1920s, Potsdamer Platz was one of the most prominent business districts in Berlin with its department stores, government offices and hotels.

Today, following the world-renowned architect Helmut Jahn’s work, Sony Center stands as a 26-floor, glass-and-steel tower in the heart of Berlin.

The most Instagrammabel part of the Sony Center is, however, a central plaza canopied by a tent-like glass roof with supporting beams. Besides it’s grand design, The Plaza has some great cafes to enjoy as well.

10- Fallen Leaves Memorial 

This place is an incredible blend of modern architecture and historic significance. A concrete Memory Void runs through the entire building. It's only light comes from a small slit at the top of the structure. Below, the ground is covered with 10,000 flat iron disks, pressed into the shape of faces, symbolising those lost during the Holocaust.

9- Volkspark Friedrichshai

Climbing or a barbecue? Cinema or cake? Anything goes in Volkspark Friedrichshain. Generally, Volkspark Friedrichshain is where Berlin celebrates the warmer season, because there’s plenty of space for both sport and relaxation.

With such a range of leisure activities on offer, it’s no wonder that people of every age visit the area.There’s 49 hectares of greenery here too. So if you’re not taking great pics of your friends having fun, there’s opportunities to take photos of nature too.

8- Café am Neuen See

The stunning garden of Café am Neuen See is a hidden gem in the city of Berlin.Tucked away under the high trees of Tiergarten, directly by the water, this is the perfect place to stroll in the city and capture some great photos of shimmering water reflecting the afternoon sun. Instagrammable? We think so.

7- The Große Stern

The Große Stern (Great Star) is the central square of the Großer Tiergarten park in Berlin. A great spot to take photos is from the top of the “Siegessäule” or “victory column”.

For nature lovers, take a walk through Tiergarten where you can find rabbits, foxes and squirrels. You may pass Bellevue castle, the Parliament or Brandenburg Gate on your stroll, too.

This vivid and colorful street, in the middle of Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg districts, had to feature on our list of the most Instagrammable spots in Berlin.

Visit Templliner Strasse for charming architecture, quaint streets, brunch cafes and bustling bars. There’s a park nearby too, for those that are looking for some quiet time in the heart of the city.

5- Berlinische Galeri

The Berlinische Galerie tells the story of modern art from 1840 onwards. It also plays host to some great exhibitions throughout the year.

Temporary exhibits occupy the ground floor, from which two floating white staircases lead up to the permanent collection. With great art and cool backdrops, this is definitely one of the most instagrammable places in Berlin.

4- Königliche Gartenakademie

In this pretty place, enjoy coffee and cake surrounded by flowers and plants and pretend you are in an English garden. Great for foodies, there are lots of photo-worthy dishes here at Königliche Gartenakademie. 

3- Prinzessinnengärten

Berlin's well-known urban gardening project lies in the centre of Kreuzberg. For 60 years, the site lay unused until in 2009, it was transformed into an oasis. Today, everything at Prinzessinnengärten relies on the work and help of those in the local community.

2- Sol LeWitt’s Mural

Located near the U.S Embassy is this colourful mural created by the Jewish-American Artist Sol Lewitt. If you’re looking to add some colour and fun to your feed, this is one of the top instagrammable spots in Berlin for you.

During your visit, you can also check out the locations of the French and Russian Embassies. Sol LeWitt’s Mural is also very close to Brandenburg Gate, the Soviets Memorial and the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe.

1- Albert Gessner Das Grüne Haus

This is a great spot for architectural photos and to find out more about Berlin’s cultural heritage.

Around this photogenic house, you will find many famous Art galleries (or “altbau” buildings). Highlights include “Volker Diehl” and Gallerie “Michael Haas”.
