Mamma Mia
How can you resist it? We’re in the mid-stretch of the world-famous musical’s residency at the Stage Theater des Westens. After an overwhelmingly positive start in September, the musical based off of ABBA’s classic pop music is the perfect January pick-me-up.
Tickets start at €45.90 and are available from the official site here.
Flashdance – The Musical
Not to be outdone by Dancing Queen, another hit musical is taking up residency in Berlin in at the start of the month. Yes, they’ll be performing Maniac, and of course What a Feeling is in there too. It’s a must-see show for fans of 80s music.
Full event information is available on the Admiralpalast website.
Magic Mike Live - Preview
Before it gets in full motion, the live show based on the Channing Tatum movie has a few weeks of preview shows at Club Theater Berlin. Described as a ‘360-degree dance and acrobatic spectacular …made for a woman's gaze’ it really is going to be something a little different than what usually takes place at this time of year.
More information can be found on the official Magic Mike Berlin website.
The Best of Ennio Morricone
Movie aficionados are going to love this gem of a show. The world-renowned composer may not be there to conduct proceedings, but the incredibly talented Milano Festival Opera will be providing the score to some of the iconic scenes Morricone’s music has made. Some of the best of all time, including Django Unchained and the Once Upon a Time movies.
Tickets range from €59 to €109.
Sturgill Simpson
When he’s not redefining what modern country music means or creating critically acclaimed animated movies like Sound & Fury on Netflix, the Kentucky native is coming across the sea for some select dates as part of a European tour.
This performance is expected to be a sell-out, especially with it taking place on a Friday night. Tickets start at €34.
Two Door Cinema Club
The hottest indie act to come out of Northern Ireland since Snow Patrol (or Ash if you’re a true music fan), Two Door Cinema Club are coming back to Berlin off the back of their latest album False Alarm.
Expect all the hits and a night of indie fun at one of Berlin’s best venues for live music.
Days of Dance
It’s always exciting to see a different kind of festival in the calendar and Days of Dance certainly fits the bill. This contemporary dance festival showcases some of the best local talent and covers a broad spectrum of dance styles.
Berlin Fashion Week
Time to get your best glad rags out of the closet and get ready for some fierce works on the runaway as Fashion Week is back in town. With five days of runway shows, exhibits, trade fairs and shows, there’s also a little excitement in the air around Fashion Week.
Six-Day Berlin
What’s 110 years old and involves a DJ and two wheels?
One of the best indoor bike races sets up shop for another year in the Zum Stadtplan. Six-Day Berlin sees professional cyclists compete against amateurs in a series of races that range from sprints to derbies.
Dating all the way back to 1909 when the first one took place in Berlin Zoo (imagine cycling between giraffes and penguins) it’s one of the fastest indoor cycling events you’ll get the chance to see live.
International Green Week
Technically taking place over ten days (give or take) the International Green Week is the biggest food trade fair in Europe, and some say the world.
If someone grows or makes food, then there’s a good chance they’re going to be here as exhibitors from all over Europe set up shop in the conference hall. It is aimed at those in the industry as a big networking event, but for any foodies out there you could spend the entire day going around and collecting samples.
You can get tickets from the official site here.
