Facts about Palau Sant Jordi
Palau Sant Jordi is a multi-purpose indoor arena for concerts, sports and more that was completed in 1990 as one of the Summer Olympics venues. The biggest indoor arena in Spain, it is also the 3rd biggest in the whole of Europe, and impressively, the 11th biggest in the world with a sports event capacity of 17,000, and 24,000 for music concerts. Designed by Japanese architect Arata Isozaki, this multi-purpose arena hosted the gymnastics, handball and volleyball events during the 1992 Summer Olympics.
Aside from its great sporting events, the venue has also seen some of the musical greats perform there. This includes Frank Sinatra, Lady Gaga, Queen and Beyonce; this autumn will also see Canadian superstar Justin Bieber at the Palau Sant Jordi. Located just off the very centre of Barcelona, one of Spain’s largest cities and close to the sea, it really is in a lovely location too.
