DISTRICT 1
No visit to Ho Chi Minh City is complete without exploring the city's centre, known as District 1. Don a backpack and start with a walk along Nguyen Hue Boulevard from the banks of the Saigon River to Ho Chi Minh's French-colonial era City Hall. A few blocks northeast you'll find the Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon, an impressively preserved and colourful and Instagram-worthy French-colonial era cathedral located in a central square. Located adjacent to the cathedral you'll find the historical Saigon Central Post Office. The beautifully preserved post office harks back to the Indochine-era and is colourfully decorated with delicately illustrated maps of the region around Ho Chi Minh. Walking in, you'll be struck by the picture of modern Vietnam's founding father, Ho Chi Minh, located at the end of the main hall.
