Thinking of visiting the Torre Agbar and other sites in the city? Stay close by at Capri by Fraser Barcelona.
The Torre Agbar is a skyscraper located in Barcelona’s new technological district in-between the Carrer Badajoz and the famous Avinguda Diagonal. The 38-story building was designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel, costing £115 million pounds to build. Owned by the municipal water company, the Grupo Agbar, the tower was designed to look like a water fountain, making it a stand out attraction in this part of Barcelona. It’s the tallest building in the city at present, only the Sagrada Familia will be taller once construction is complete.
The structure is popular tourists visiting the city due to the unusual design and look. The building comes alive at night when the glass panels constantly change colour. During the small hours of the morning, you’re able to see the Torre Agbar from quite a distance. There’s an exhibition on the ground floor of a building that shows the history and development of water treatment in Barcelona.
Reaching the Torre Agbar from our serviced apartments is straightforward. Take a leisurely 10-minute walk down the Carrer de Sancho de Ávila, past the Be Good Club until you meet Carrer de Badajoz. Turn left here and as you walk down you’ll see the building on the right-hand side.
