The Kingdom of Bahrain has a reputation as one of the leading commercial centres of the Middle East; however more recently the city-state has started to garner attention for its tourism potential. Of course, business is still very much front and centre for many of the island nation's 1.2 million inhabitants, which includes half from overseas countries including neighbouring Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

When staying in your serviced apartment, don't miss out on some of the top things to do in Bahrain.
Opened in September 2019, Dive Bahrain can lay claim as the world's largest underwater theme park. Although new, there are big plans for the park starting with its initial attraction; a 70-metre-long decommissioned Boeing 747 which was prepared to protect the local ecosystem then submerged to create an artificial reef for the area's wildlife. The park will also include a full replica of a traditional pearl fisher's house for divers to explore, an underwater sculpture gallery and shipwrecks. To book, have the concierge at your hotel in Bahrain organise a day out with one of their recommended dive centres.
Manama could be considered the modern heart of Bahrain, but there's plenty of things to do when it comes to Bahrain's culture and history. Make a pilgrimage to the Al Fateh Grand Mosque to marvel at its grand scale. Designed to hold over 7,000 worshippers at any one time, the mosque is one of the largest in the world. Feeling the need for some retail therapy? Running south from the Bab Al Bahrain and only a short bus ride from your serviced apartment you'll find the Manama Souq, a warren of alleys and narrow roads stacked end-to-end with purveyors of fine... everything. Traditional Arabic pastry and sweets shops rub shoulders with fabric merchants, spice merchants and of course some delightfully flavourful food. Speaking of food, after a night out you may want to stop by ''Shawarma Alley'', otherwise known as Osama Bin Zaid Avenue. A bunch of traditional shawarma cafeterias sit cheek by jowl, trying to outdo each other in the pursuit of the perfect shawarma
Located to the east of Bahrain's largest island and a short boat ride away from your serviced apartments in Bahrain, the Al Dar Islands makes a wonderful day trip for friends and family looking for some fun in the sun. The island is set up with seaside fun in mind - hire one of the beach shacks for the day and loll about on the beach, or hire a Stand-Up Paddleboard to explore the surrounding calm waters. For something more exhilarating, hire a jet ski and skim across the water like a rock across a pond. There's also plenty of on-shore fun - the beaches are clean and there are playgrounds for the kids.
Bahrain was one of the first regions to convert to Islam in the time of Muhammad. Its long and proud relationship with Islam can be seen in its impressive Islamic cultural sites, mosques and the Beit Al Quran, or 'House of Quaran' in the Hoora district, conveniently close to your serviced apartments in the Diplomatic Area. The Beit Al Quran houses an impressive collection of ancient and rare Qurans, the holy book of Islam, as well as Islamic artefacts and examples of Islam's unique flowing calligraphy. The Khamis Mosque, located west of Manama, is thought to be the oldest mosque in Bahrain with a heritage stretching back to the end of the 7th-century. Although in ruins, the site is immaculately preserved and you can almost feel the history swirling around you.
