To be a net-zero carbon corporation
Frasers Hospitality is guided by a group-wide Sustainability Framework that maps out specific initiatives through to 2030 that will bring us closer to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out by the United Nations. Chief of this is carbon neutrality as we work towards reducing our carbon emissions, while also tackling other pressing issues that arise in the global fight against climate change.
ENERGY MANAGEMENT & CARBON NEUTRALITY
We have set in place protocols and innovative solutions to meet our goal of 15% energy reduction by 2025. We are already seeing progress in our properties around the world. In Singapore and Australia, a paperless check-in system in several properties has seen up to 40 percent improvement in check-in efficiency and a 30 to 40 percent drop in paper use. Smart control units intuitively adjust lighting and air conditioning with electricity savings of 10 percent
BUILDINGS OF TOMORROW
We have put in place a task force of sustainability professionals to reinforce our strong commitment to integrate sustainability into our business. Chief among this is to develop green buildings as we lay out the framework to achieve five-star GRESB certification - the industry’s ultimate benchmark for sustainable real estate.
WORLD WITHOUT WASTE
90% of our properties have phased out single-use plastics
We have been an advocate of replacing single-use plastics and responsible sourcing across our global hospitality operations since 2019. We identified amenities in our apartments and bathrooms, as well as packaging in our food and beverage offerings, and sought to replace them with alternative or biodegradable materials.
WATER STEWARDSHIP
In 2020, we set a target for our properties to reduce indoor water consumption by 15% compared to a standard building in the same country. A minimum water efficiency standard was adopted to support the move to minimise water consumption in all new developments. We have further committed to reduce water intensity by 20% in our Singapore properties by 2030.
Sustainability plays a big role in future-proofing our business through innovation and long-term strategic planning. In FY2020, we established five new goals that will guide Frasers Property through to 2050 as we integrate sustainability into our business operations.
